Reflections on Holly and Brian Festa

I've known Holly and Brian for two years now, and have had the great privilege of caring for Holly during her last pregnancy with daughter Addy. Delivering Addy was one of the more moving moments of my career, as their last child was born with multiple organ malformations and passed away shortly after birth. The energy in the room was palpable, as they awaited a healthy daughter. Holly had mentioned to me on more than one occasion that all she ever really wanted to be was a MOTHER. She and Brian had such hope for this pregnancy. The joy of the family after Addy arrived safely gave me goosebumps!!! This couple touched everyone who cared for them. My staff couldn't wait to see pictures of Holly and Addy! But unbelievable tragedy struck, and the child passed away in her sleep at the babysitter at the age of three months. This was confirmed as a senseless SIDS death. Some couples may have crumbled, losing two babies like this. But Holly and Brian persevered, they clung to each other and drew on their strength as a couple. They have been grieving their losses together, in a most appropriate way, with the support of family, friends, coworkers, and our office staff. The love surrounding this couple is just amazing. Their coping mechanisms are healthy - returning to work, exercising, working outdoors in the yard, spending lots of time with family and friends, looking FORWARD.

Despite everything, they haven't lost HOPE. They are not bitter or afraid to love again. They are both elementary school teachers, and LOVE children. Children are their life. While they do desire to have one more natural pregnancy in the future, they'd also like to open their arms and hearts to a child in need of a home now. For medical reasons, it wouldn't be advisable for Holly to carry more than one more pregnancy, and they'd like to have more than one child. They are well suited for adoption. Their hearts and home are ready. They will touch YOUR hearts, their fortitude just emanates for all to appreciate. A child welcomed into the Festa house will be blessed to have such parents and family.

Sincerely,
